Black Hawk Down:
A U.S. Black Hawk military helicopter has crashed near the Iraqi town of Tikrit.
Reuters photographer Damir Sagolj saw the aircraft in flames near a U.S. base in Tikrit, 175 km north of Baghdad, after hearing a loud boom. Soldiers said the helicopter had been flying and some said it had been brought down by a rocket-propelled grenade. There was no immediate official comment on the cause of the crash.
At least one soldier appeared to be wounded, photographer Damir Sagolj said from the scene. The helicopter was flying alongside another Black Hawk when it crashed, soldiers said. The second aircraft landed and rescued at least one crew member, they added.
